Every girl and woman in today’s culture will come face to face with circumstances that will question God’s design for purity.
It doesn’t matter if you are a Christian or grew up in a Christian home. Satan will tempt you and try to make you compromise your values.
In today’s culture, purity is look at as old fashion and useless.
The world does not have the same respect and drive for purity as it once had. The idea of purity is continually bypassed by the world’s culture.
But God designed intimacy for marriage only.
And until you are married, you should keep your mind and actions pure because the Lord said to do so.
But in today’s culture it can be hard. With television, romance novels, and most secular music, staying pure can sometimes seem impossible.
God did not leave you alone in your walk of faith though. He has equipped you with truth so you can stand up to the temptations Satan throws your way.
Here are twelve verses about staying pure that will help you fight the world’s temptations:
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. (Psalm 51: 10)
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. (Psalm 119:9)
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16)
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about theses things. (Philippians 4:8)
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing way along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2:16-17)
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God. (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5)
Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. (1 Corinthians 6:18)
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desire. (Romans 13:14)
Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. (Colossians 3:5)
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1: 14-16)
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)
Staying pure in this culture will be difficult.
Memorize a few or all of these verses so when temptation comes you will be able to fight it off with God’s truth.
You will continue to be tempted. Satan will try to make you compromise your values and standards. But the Lord will guide you through the temptation and lies the world throws your way.
